The Toronto Police Service recognizes that survivors of sexual assault are reluctant to make initial contact with police and report incidents of sexual violence. Our mission is to investigate every case ensuring personal and community safety and to provide those impacted by sexual violence with community resources. We are just one agency in a circle of support. We work together in order to provide the best possible outcomes for those impacted by sexual violence. But many people do not know about the options available to them.
With that in mind, Project GUIDE took shape.

What is consent?
Project GUIDE has a multi-faceted community outreach in educational initiative. It focuses on providing resources in a survivor centered approach that places priority on the emotional and physical well-being of those impacted by sexual violence.

Experts in the fields of health, law, education, accessibility and technology and survivors of sexual violence.
With financial support from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services, the Toronto Police Service partner with Ryerson University and MCIS Language Solutions and developing three key parts of our Project GUIDE initiative. An information guide that provides answers to questions most commonly asked by survivors sexual assault, the guide has been translated into 12 languages, is accessible and features content that is non-judgmental and inclusive.
The yourchoice.to website builds on the content of the guide in an interactive platform that can be accessed upon a desktop or mobile device. It has an interactive community resource map, video messages for medical and legal professionals and links to other critical service providers.
The choice campaign promotes the survivors right to choose through six inclusive designs. We are highlighting the survivors right to find the next step that makes the most sense for them.

Project GUIDE respects that survivors may choose to seek information from the privacy of their own home or at a local hospital. They may choose to confide in a friend, call the police or seek out legal advice, their choice is the right choice. The Toronto Police Service is proud to launch Project GUIDE.
