Hi, my name is Matt Diaz. I lost 270 pounds in the last six years, when I was 16-years old I weighed about 495 pounds — my heaviest weight. I’m a big advocate for body positive building. But I’ve never shown what my excess skin really looks like. And I think it’s important that I do. Because I want to be open with you people about who am I and what my body is like. I’ve never done this before – ever. I’m really, really scared so just don’t like you know, don’t judge too much I guess.
So this is what 270 pounds worth of excess can looks like essentially, it’s on my arms, my torso and there’s nothing I can do about it.
I have a birthmark here; I was born with it, I have never shown to anyone, but all this is just excess skin from the weight loss and I workout and I work really hard and there is nothing I can do about it. And I’m really scared to put this up because I’m scared people won’t think I’m attractive anymore. I’m scared all the nice messages will stop. And I feel this all the time – whenever I sleep with someone new, whenever I’m at somewhere where a beach or something and I’m supposed to take my shirt off, I can’t. And I want to share with you guys because I think its important that I’m not ashamed about who I am because I worked really hard to get here and I still won’t have the body that I want but I’m trying really hard to love myself.
And I’m really scared to put this up but I think it’s important that I do because – because this is who I am. And I worked so hard to lose all the weight and I’m less than half of my weight hence I’m not going to be ashamed if who I am — not anymore. I’m so scared people will think I’m ugly now. I’m so scared like there is going to be a lot of negativity and a lot of judgment. But I had to put it on there because I can’t preach body positivity and not and hide who I am I can’t do that it’s not right and I known that since I really start talking about it. But I’m just — I was scared — I’m still scared.
But I work out so much – I work really hard and this is where I’m until I can get I surgery to fix it until I can’t something to repair it, this is just what my body looks like – I can’t help it.

I have stretch marks, I have birthmarks, I have all this excess skin – I would show it on my legs too its not as bad there on my thighs but I’ve got limits on what my camera can and can’t do right now it is essentially just like up on somebody’s medicine cabinet.
But I felt like I had to show you guys. Because I want to be proud of who I am, I want all of you to be proud of who you are and part of that is not hiding it.
So this is who I am and I work so hard to have a nice sense of style, to have a nice haircut and all that shit because I want to own who I am.
And I want to control and like the things about myself that I can. But the things that you can’t change or you can’t fix you have to make peace with. I’m trying and I really am that’s why I’m showing you all of this.

Sorry I got really emotional. I have never done anything like this before and I’m really, really fucking terrified like I have been having an anxiety attack just trying to film this.
But I have excess skin, I have stretch marks, I have birthmarks, I’m just a person and I believe that you should care for yourself and I’m not going to say that and fucking hide who I am, because its not right to any of you and its not right to myself.
