Lou Barletta’s Response To Bob Casey
Bob Casey just released an insensitive and personal attack ad accusing Lou Barletta of wanting to rip away health care from twin children with cancer, after Lou personally told Casey of his 18-month-old twin grandson currently undergoing chemo for cancer. What Bob Casey did with that commercial is one of the most hurtful, insensitive thing that I’ve ever experienced in my entire political career.
Bob Casey knew that my grandson, my 18-month-old grandson, who is a twin, has cancer. I told him and his wife a month ago. They knew what we were going through. They knew in fact that – that he’s getting treatment right now. And to run a commercial showing twins with cancer and to say that I would deny my own grandson health care [is] might be the lowest thing I have ever experienced in my entire political life.
To want to win an election that bad, that you would go that far to hurt my family, my daughter and my wife, my other daughters, myself, is something that I can’t even – I can’t even think that anybody would go there to be that insensible – insensitive, that hurtful.
He can’t say that he didn’t know this. And to use twins with cancer is the lowest thing I’ve ever experienced in my life.
He should take that commercial down and he should be ashamed of himself.
He should be ashamed of himself that he wants to win an election that bad that he would hurt a family.
Does he know what it’s like to have a grandchild, an 18-month-old grandchild who’s being treated as we speak with chemotherapy? And put something on TV and – and – and what’s he going to say that he didn’t know, he didn’t remember?
There’s not a place that I don’t go in Pennsylvania. Democrats and Republicans, who don’t come up to me and say we’re sorry about your grandson, we’re praying for him. And to approve a message like that it’s disgusting.
I’m ashamed, he should be ashamed. He’s hurt my family and the commercial should come down. Shame on him.
