LGBT: Human Rights

When it comes to LGBT rights, we naturally think about our own countries. But what’s happening abroad is shocking and usually not covered by mainstream media.
LGBT Americans have seen progress, like marriage. But the Supreme Court’s masterpiece cake shop ruling shows us that the debate over equality is far from over. But even as laws in the United States and other Western countries slowly evolve, much of the world is still far behind.
For example, in Chechnya, the government launched a brutal campaign with law enforcement torturing performing exorcisms and sometimes making men just disappear. In 2009, India made progress overturning its ban on homosexual intercourse. But in 2013, it reinstated the ban and we continue to see cases of harassment blackmail and even sexual assault.
But law, is only one part of the picture. For example, under Palestinian Law, being gay is not technically illegal, but arrest and torture are commonplace anyway.
The officers undressed me, tied my hand and pulled me up to the ceiling. All the pressure was on my hands. As I remained hanging, three officers beat me over my entire body while they cursed me and demanded that I confess.

This happened in a Palestinian government interrogation chamber. Later the same man was locked inside a small dark room full of insects and rodents. He was not sure how many hours he spent there. For his protection, his name cannot be revealed. There are more testimonies, some, so horrific, we can’t even include them in this video.
NOWHERE TO RUN
But we put a link to the original report in the description. Something we almost never hear in mainstream media is that some Palestinian victims flee to Tel Aviv, one of the most LGBT friendly cities in the world.
