I’m going to write a song that makes me feel better about myself, but it wasn’t in terms of trying to further my career at this point, it was just more to just to feel alive again, and to feel in control of myself and my abilities and my feelings, and sorry to get me serious for a minute, I’m really sorry.
Because my music is bloody serious, isn’t it? I don’t know why I’m trying to bust a joke but my music is [waahaaa].
Alright, so I – within a couple of hours I had the first verse and chorus of this song and I write this song on guitar but obviously it wasn’t heartbreaking enough so we put it on to piano just to make it a little more upset – lives. And I’m embarrassed, I played it to the people that I let hear my music before I played it for you today, I let my manager, my mom, my best friend – they all reacted in a very different way to the reactions of any of my other songs from my career including my last album and stuff like that, and I could see in their eyes, when they were listening to on their headphones, it reminded them of someone, or something, and that was what I wanted them and bitter, and witchy and bitchy as I was on the 21 Album and the 19 Album but mostly on the 21 Album.
And I was trying to remember how it was I felt in the beginning of the relationship that inspired that record, cause as bad a a break-up can be, bitter and horrible as messy it can be – that feeling when you first fall in love with someone is the best feeling on earth and I am addicted to that feeling, obviously I can’t – I’m through with those feelings because I’m married now so I found my next person but that feeling – you know that feeling I’m talking about when you first meet someone and just everything right, you just feel alive for the first time, I wanted to go back to that, and that what this song is about – it is sad. And it is heartbreaking but it’s also about being grateful and feeling blessed for the chance that you have to have certain people in your lives and as I’m getting along with all of my friends who are finishing their first marriages – no me, but they are, shit! I feel like by the time I’m 30 or 40 that’s me going out with the people who are going out with the people who are 14 or 15. It will be like full-circle.

And I see how much they hate who they’re married to – who they have kids with – and I’m not in that position, I can’t relate to that right now and I hope I never do but I just try to hold on to that feeling for longer than the – but if you got kids with them – those kids are half of – just be nice to one another. Be nice to each other, alright. Because I had a bad experience with my parents. It was fucking shit. And I know it’s hard and they’re bastards most of the time. Also I think the men when they get —– [inaudible], babysitting while the mom’s are out tonight. […] Let’s get lost in the traffic, oh… it was a 7 hour delay. Anyway, sing along with me – thank you from the bottom of my heart for coming out for an amazing night with this many people it’s always — thank you, it’s very beautiful – this is Someone Like You.
Look after each other on the way out.
