My name is Young Boozer and that’s my real name. Its a great name, ah, it is unbelievably sticky and I think its gonna serve me well in this campaign. Typically, when I get introduced to people, especially at a gathering, say, a Civic Club and I’m giving a speech, ah, I know that the Civic Club is going to be divided into three parts, its gonna be one part that says: “Is that the guys real name.”?

The second part is gonna be: “What’s his fathers name, Old Boozer? And there’s gonna be that last that knows the name Young Boozer, they either know me, they know my name, or they know my dad, my dad was also a Young Boozer, my father was well known in the State of Alabama – he was a star football player for the University of Alabama, he was involved in business and non-profit organizations throughout his life, and as a matter of fact, he’s the only person in the history of the State of Alabama to be a member of the Alabama sports Hall of Fame, and the Alabama Business Hall of Fame. He and coach Coach Paul Bear Bryant were room-mates. As a matter of fact they were life long friends. Coach Bryant is my daughters god-father so our families have been very very close. Coach Bryant has been a big influence on my life, there is a saying that he has that I abide by everyday. And the saying goes: “Do what you have to do, when you ought to do it whether you like it or not”. And what that basically tells you is, whatever you’re doing in life – you need to do the best you can do and do it right away.
