Hi, this is Ray Davis from Epic Games. I’m here to talk to you about the latest Unreal Engine demo built for Google I/O. We built this demo in collaboration with NVIDIA and it’s running our full desktop rendering, NVIDIA’s K1 mobile GPU. We’re also utilizing the new android extension pack. This allows the user deferred rendering physically based shading with G-Buffers, image based lighting and HDR Tone Mapping.
These characters are part of our Samaritan demo, which we built the showcase the bleeding edge of PC rendering, not to long ago. Now, we’re able to render them with full detail on a mobile device and really close the gap and graphics capability compared to desktops.
Some of the extensions utilized in this demo will offer the glossy reflections in the environment along with tessellation for the smoke effects, geometry shaders are also used to generate various volume metric textures, which are used for post process effects. This demo and its assets will be made available to Unreal Engine for subscribers in the near future. Thank you for watching.
