ALEPPO SYRIA

My name is Esraa. I am fifteen years old. When I was in 5th grade I left school because of war and displacement.

WHEN WAR ENRUPTED IN SYRIA, ESRAA HAD TO STOP GOING TO SCHOOL FOR 5 YEARS.

I left school because of the shelling. I couldn’t read or write at all. I used to see my brother and sister reading a story that I couldn’t read. I used to buy stories to only look at their pictures.

ONGOING WAR CONTINUES TO DISRUPT THE EDUCATION OF MILLIONS OF SYRIAN CHILDREN

Students in Aleppo face challenges like shelling and sounds of mortars falling nearby. In addition to the shelling, there is no water or electricity.

ESRAA CONTINUES HER STUDIES THROUGH A SELF-LEARNING PROGRAMME SUPPORTED BY UNICEF

What is good about it is that the questions and answers are included in the book. We write down the questions that we don’t understand on a paper for the next day and the teachers will explain them for us. My dream is to be a math teacher because I like this subject very much. I hope that peace takes place in Syria, not only Syria but all the world!
