So i was asked if doing 100 push ups would be a good thing for a beginner. Well, I’m giving the question right back at you because you got to ask yourself: what are your goals?
If your goals are endurance for push ups, then 100 push ups might be a good beginner program.
But, if your goal is strength, it’s not a good goal (meant to say ‘program’). Also, if you want to build muscle you should take exercises that have progressions. For example doing the push ups in a harder progression like diamond push ups. And once you can do 8 of them, do (maybe) archer push ups.
So, if you are training for a military test then endurance is a good thing – because you have to understand: when you do push ups over a certain number – let’s say over 20 – you are training endurance and the ability to recover your muscles.
Another point you got to understand is, that you need to balance your workout.
So, if you do only push ups you’ll get a strong triceps but your other muscles will stay weak.
So, do pull ups as well. And dips. And rows.
So: if you need a good beginner program, go to this link in the description for the reddit recommended routine.
That’s probably better for you then doing a 100 push up program.
