Today is a special day, because it is International Women’s Day. So, we have a full day planned, and we’re on our way to Dubai to visit a school. You know I am a teacher, so one of the favorite things that I love to do is to visit schools. And we’re going to take the message forth to empower women, because it’s only when women are empowered that families are empowered. Nice to see you.

Female Speaker:
How are you?

Jill Biden:
Fine. Nice to meet you. So what we’re seeing around the world is more and more women furthering their education, and taking on unrepresented roles. As an educator myself for over thirty years, I love helping students, and help them to try and navigate their future. And seeing their future really grow right before their eyes, like I see with so many of you in the classrooms I visited.

Female Speaker:
Whether you’re a girl or a boy, whether you’re black or white, middle-eastern or Asian or any race at all, you deserve education. You have human rights, and you can build yourself and build your confidence. Girls’ education can empower a woman. It can build her into a capable, independent, and strong woman. She can later on go and earn herself a job, and that is amazing. She can benefit herself in today’s society, and she can give valid points to defend her rights.

Sarah Amiri:
I’m currently the lead of the Emirates Mars Mission. I’m working with my team to develop the science of emission, and to further right now develop the capability in first generation of Emirate planetary scientists in that area. I’m also the head of the UAE Council of Scientists. Where do you see yourself in ten years? I don’t. I would like to see Earth from space. And a few split-seconds later, I crossed that out. I was scared of my dream, and how ridiculous does that seem right now? Ten years on from that date, I actually did see Earth from space, from a satellite that I helped build that took snapshots of Earth from space. Never fear your dream, and always be okay with expressing it, and talking about it. No matter how audacious they may seem. No matter how bold you think they are. Talk about them. Declare them, and be proud of them. Because they can become truth.

Jill Biden:
So today, on International Woman’s Day, and every day, we must stand with the women and men who are committed to a future where our daughters and our sons have equal opportunity to thrive.

It’s important for countries to come together, especially when it comes to international movements. They want to learn from each other’s experiences in terms of women empowerment, and in terms of developing the different sectors for women, and enabling a lot of the different areas for women. Dr. Biden is also an educator, and it’s very important for her to come here as a sort of exchange, again, in know-how in terms of education — furthering education for both boys and girls.
