Part Two
Lady Gaga Full Interview On Larry King Live Part Two CNN
[Larry King]
We’re back with Lady Gaga, its out 25th Anniversary, we are honored to have her as one of our featured guests, Bill Gates will be with us tomorrow night, LeBron James Friday Night, we are very diversified. We have a question for you GaGa it’s on our Facebook page. Is it true that Michael Jackson wanted to perform with you, on his This Is It, Come Back Tour?
[Lady Gaga]
Um, you know, Um, its always very difficult cause I necessary don’t like to talk about those very personal things that happened, but, I guess I can speak about it now, but, I was actually asked to open up for Michael on his tour and and we were going to open for him at the 02 and we were working on making it happen, and I, I suppose, I believe there was some talk about us, lost of the openers doing a duets with Michael on stage, so ah, Micheal’s death was devastating for me, regardless whether or not I was suppose to go on tour with him, he, he, he’s such an inspiration, and remarkable human being, and um, I guess, I suppose, Larry, some of my fascination with death and the demise of the celebrity goes along with me watching these hugely iconic and amazing people that I have heralded and admired my whole life, ah, ah, become destroyed, whether self destroyed or ah, destroyed by the media
[Larry King]
How did you come up with the idea, the incredible idea of these costumes of not just singing and dancing but the way you present yourself, how did that come about?
[Lady Gaga]
Um, well some of the things I wear are obviously created for me by the designers or the re-creations of archives and things worn, ah, in the seventies and the eighties but lots of the newer more original pieces they are meant to be kinda a rejection of what people view about women. Ah, I guess, I’m a feminist! I am a Feminist and I want to change the way people view women and change – I guess ah, I’m not quite sure what she means by her work but Marina Abramović, the performance artist, she seems to be quite limitless, and she seems to say, somehow she-or we create our own limits so I guess I’m trying to push the limits and push the boundaries as much as I can, and I also really love the way I dress – it brings we a personal joy and satisfaction in my own life, that I’d like to share with my fans, and I also try to create things that are quite easy for my fans to replicate, some of them not so much. But some of them very easy for my fans to replicate and it bonds us in a way, its quite nice to have a connection to them, outside of everything else. Yes.
[Larry King]
Is there a boundary, you won’t cross?
[Lady Gaga]
I suppose I have to, you have to wait Larry, I’m not sure
[Larry King]
(laughs)
[Lady Gaga]
I’m not interested in violence, I don’t like violence, I hate violence, I don’t like negativity! I don’t like prejudice, I don’t believe in hatred in music, there are some things, I suppose.
[Larry King]
Well said. You said that your 2008 single “Just Dance”, that single, saved your life! That was a quote from the Sunday Observer, how?
[Lady Gaga]
Of course, people like to take sound bites from interview’s that I give, but ah, it saved my life, I guess in a, just as in a transitional way, in terms of where I was in the journey of my music and I moved to Los Angeles and I’ve been dropped from record labels a few times and had, and been through so many obstacles and been told, no, and been rejected, you’re not pretty enough, you are not thin enough, you can’t sing enough, you can’t write a good enough song, you are a freak, the weird girl from New York. I mean it was ah, rejection after rejection and I wrote this song “Just Dance” and ah, and it was my eureka moment, it was the thing that everyone was able to latch on to, the, record label, the gay community who has been the most enormous blessing of my life, and I have them and their support and the way that they truly understand me and support me and in fact the Alejandro Video which will premier very soon but you’ll see the snippet of it tonight, is ah, celebration of my love and appreciation for the gay community, my admiration of their bravery, and their love for one another and their courage and their relationship – its something I have yet to nail on the head with a man, Larry.
[Larry King]
Um, she has a special relationship with her fans, we will talk about that and a lot of other things when we come back,
[Larry King]
We are back with the fantastic Lady GaGa, on this our 25th anniversary week. We will be joined Thursday night with the President of the United States, Barack Obama. You said, Lady GaGa, you don’t touch Cocaine anymore, was it hard to stop doing it?
[Lady Gaga]
Ah, no, it wasn’t, byt the time I stopped doing it, it was ruining my life, so, no! I kinda just threw it away, I guess.
[Larry King]
British Tabloids said, that you recently, I want to get this right, you walked into a local Pub in Birmingham, you had a few drinks, and picked up every-bodies tab when you left? True?
[Lady Gaga]
Yes, what’s wrong with buying a few friends a beer.
[Larry King]
Just, (laughs)
[Larry King]
You are in the midst now of a massive world tour, in fact you are coming to us from the 02 Arena in London where you’ll be performing
[Lady Gaga]
Yes.
[Larry King]
What is that pressure like? To go on that kind of tour?
[Lady Gaga]
It’s a wonderful pressure! It’s the most amazing pressure! It’s not like any other kind of pressure. It’s not under pressure, its not water pressure, its’ not pressure cooker!
[Larry King]
(laughs)
[Lady Gaga]
It’s just wonderful, its miraculous, I’m so blessed, I look out into the audience and I scream and we cry, we sing, we cheer, and we dance, and I can’t believe there is 17 thousand people singing my lyrics or even know my name and I’m – I’m so grateful, Larry, I can’t say enough about my little monsters – beautiful fans, they inspire me so much, I’ve been writing my new album on the road, every day, it’s been a wonderful experience, of course, I always want it to be better, but, ah, not a bad pressure, a good pressure. good wonderful.
[Larry King]
How did you come up with the little monsters idea, what does that mean?
[Lady Gaga]
Well, I wrote the Album The Fame Monster, which is the second album and ah, when I had finished, I realized that I written each about a particular fear that I had come across, on my journey, promoting the Fame, and then when I went on tour, my fans, my fans were salivating at the mouth and they couldn’t couldn’t wait for me to sing my new songs, and they behaved like monsters in the audience so, one night I said: “You little monsters”.
[Larry King]
(laughs)
[Lady Gaga]
And I had, used the lyrics on the album as well, Little Monsters, so I just started calling them little monsters and before I knew it, they were holding there hands up like this(claw) in the audience, and this became the symbol for the little monster and now they stand – they stand in the audience every night and dance and hold up their monster hand.
[Lady Gaga]
She is a music phenomenon and she is a social phenomenon, she is Lady GaGa, its our 25th Anniversary week, Bill Gates tomorrow. Everybody is waiting to see what Lady Gaga’s video for Alejandro – oh, the wait is over – an exclusive sneak peek of that video that everyone is asking about is ahead.
