The one thing that never changes about popcorn is how people eat it. How people get it in their mouths. Whether it’s directly from the bag or the bowl. That hasn’t changed. But how cool would it be if we could change the way people eat popcorn.

The Popinator is a full automated voice activated popcorn launching machine that is triggered by the word *POP*. So you could be sitting in your chair or standing in a room and when you say: *POP*, it’s gonna figure out where that sound came from, where the word *POP* came from and shot a piece of popcorn at it. The Popinator uses a Binaural Microphone system which is similar to the way the human hearing system works. Basically its able to calculate using the small differences and the arrival time of sound waves and their reflections where a sound originated from.

The Popinator is, it definitely made a name for itself around here. We started passing it around the office. We had it in our daily lunches, in our meetings and some people were sceptical at first. I was one of those people but, now everyone really loves it, it’s a great toy to have.

Every piece of popcorn is different, different shapes and sizes. Different aerodynamic properties basically when you’re shooting a popcorn, it’s only so accurate you can get it. You might have to maneuver a little bit to catch it. Uh, that’s really just part of the fun.
