Hello.
[KOBFM-New Mexico - Radio - Aug 17, 2012] Source: LYBIO.net
Hello! Hey!~ Mr. President?
[Barack Obama] Source: LYBIO.net
How’s it going, guys?
[93.3 KOB FM]
How’s it going – It’s going good. Yeah!~~~ We’re so excited to talk to you.
[Barack Obama]
Well, I’m thrilled to talk to you, how’s everybody doing in New Mexico?
[93.3 KOB FM]
We’re doing good, we’re waiting for you to come and visit us.
[Barack Obama] LYBIO.net
I gotta get there – I love that state! It is beautiful and the people are all nice to me.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Are big question is: Red or Green?
[Barack Obama]
I think you’ve got to go with the classic red, although every once in a while green is solid. But I’m just going with red on this one.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Oh ya!
[93.3 KOB FM]
Nice! It’s the best kind sometimes.
[Barack Obama]
That’s all I’m saying!
[93.3 KOB FM]
What’s your favorite New Mexican food?
[Barack Obama]
I will confess, I haven’t been able to sample enough to have a favorite. Now the last time I was in Albuquerque I had some pretty outstanding mole if I’m not mistaken — but I have not sampled all that’s available. So, you guys are gonna have to give me some tips the next time I’m there.
[93.3 KOB FM]
We’ll go to dinner when you come to town.
[Barack Obama]
Alright.
[93.3 KOB FM] Source: LYBIO.net
Lets make it happen Kiki
[93.3 KOB FM]
I’ll take you.
[Barack Obama]
Well I appreciate that, we’ll see if I can arrange that.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Now, Mr. President, you can confirm or deny but we have one of our friends from [HeadLight Inc.] say that somebody in Colorado mentions that there is actually a Green Chili there in Colorado and they are saying that it is actually better than ours.
[Barack Obama]
I went to Romeros in Pueblo they did have a couple of certificates showing that won their prize for Green Chili. Now, I gotta say, it was outstanding, but, who knows, maybe you guys got something that can beat it. It was pretty darn good though.
[93.3 KOB FM]
I declare chili war – right now!
[All]
[laughing]
[Barack Obama]
I’m happy to sample. I’m happy to sample.
[93.3 KOB FM] Source: LYBIO.net
Now. If we were to visit Chicago, what would you recommend, if I wanted to go eat some really good soul food?
[Barack Obama]
Well, first of all, there’s a great place on the West side called MacArthur’s, it’s sort of a family restaurant and you name it, you got it. Fried chicken, greens, cornbread, black eyed peas. And – there are probably three different types of hot sauce sitting on the table. You can’t go wrong there. But when you come to Chicago, you’ve got to try all sorts of stuff. You’ve got Al’s Italian Beef, outstanding – you’ve got deep dish pizza — gotta check that out. You probably need to get a hot dog at Wrigley field.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Oh – that sounds so good.
[Barack Obama]
I know I’m a White Sox fan, but uh, you know, it’s a nice place to watch a ball game. So so don’t worry, you will not lose weight if you come to Chicago.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Alright.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Mr. President, I wanted to know – uh, we’re a pop music station, what’s your favorite song to work out to?
[Barack Obama]
My iPod has a bunch of different stuff. I mean, I’ve got a bunch of old school, a lot of R&B, Stevie Wonder, Earth, Wind, and Fire, Marvin Gaye, but, you know, I’ve also got a bunch of contemporary stuff: Jay-Z, Beyonce, you know, Nas. You name it, I’ve got it. So – I will say right now that if I’m really trying to get my heart rate up, “Crazy In Love” is a pretty good song to work out to.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Ya, I agree, now we are really proud, we’ve had some big movies that have been filmed here, like the Avengers
[Barack Obama]
Right.
[93.3 KOB FM]
If you had a super power what would it be?
[Barack Obama]
You know. This sounds — it’s kind of a weird super power, but if I had something that I could immediately wish for, I would love to be able to speak any language. Now that’s a weird super power — I know – it might not come in handy to rescue folks from a burning building.
[93.3 KOB FM] Source: LYBIO.net
Right (laughs)
[Barack Obama]
But I’ve always wished that whatever country I’ve went to, whenever I’ve met somebody who spoke a different language that I could right away speak their language. I’m a big believe in making connections with people.
But If it’s like an Avengers super power, then, you know, I think the whole flying thing is pretty good…
[KOBFM-New Mexico - Radio - Aug 17, 2012] Source: LYBIO.net
Me too. We have something in common.
[Barack Obama]
Ya, I mean, you can’t beat just kind of swooping around. That looks like it’d be fun.
[KOBFM-New Mexico - Radio - Aug 17, 2012]
Kiki’s always flying around, she hasn’t even landed on the ground yet.
[KOBFM-New Mexico - Radio - Aug 17, 2012]
(laughs)
[Barack Obama]
Is that right?
[93.3 KOB FM]
Mr. President, I know your real favorite song has gotta be: Call me Maybe, you can tell us, it’s ok.
[Barack Obama]
You know, I have to admit that I never actually heard the original version of the song.
[93.3 KOB FM] Source: LYBIO.net
H-a
[Barack Obama]
I saw this version where they spliced up me from a whole bunch of different speeches that I made — and uh
they kind of mashed together an Obama version of it. But, you know, it looks like a cute pop song.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Before we wrap things up – the kids are back in school, what’s the best advice that you’ve ever received?
[Barack Obama]
The best advice that I still apply as President is: be persistent, don’t quit, I’m just a big believer that, if you work hard on something then you will succeed. It may not always be in the ways that you expected but if you’re putting in your best and your getting better and your focused that uh you’ll surprise yourself. And and that’s something that I always try to pass on to Malia and Sasha. Uh, you know, whatever you’re doing just stay at it, even if, you don’t end up being a Prima ballerina or a concert pianist, or a basketball player in the NBA, just that act of working hard and being disciplined and uh uh sticking to something uh will pay off in the end.
[93.3 KOB FM]
Well, Mr. President, we appreciate you calling in. Thank you so much and we wish you the best of luck.
[Barack Obama]
Well I appreciate everybody in New Mexico, make sure everyone remembers we’re gonna have an election November, you gotta get out there and register to vote, and make your voice heard in our Democracy.
[93.3 KOB FM]
We hope that we see you in New Mexico before the – before the campaign season is over.
[Barack Obama]
I look forward to it. Take care guys.
