We all gathered here today to say farewell and to celebrate the carrier of a woman who has been with us for 73 years. This is the longest tenure of anybody that’s ever worked at Macy’s. Macy’s has been around for more than 150 years and she, Rose Syracuse who’s the lady that we celebrated today saw almost half of those years, here at Macy’s Herald Square. She is the best example I can think off of the American work ethic in its finest form.

I started in 1939. I had just graduated from high school. To be surprised, you know life is good. You go on each day, you are happy where you are at and people and – all the bosses and supervisors they appreciate you and that’s it you stay. That’s the way it is. Thank God, it’s been good.
