We have a way in our lives and worlds where if we really focus on something and we really wanna make something happen, we put absolutely put everything into it.
Hmmmm
Why you here? What’s happening?
[Andy Whitfield]
Well this is ah – this is real. That’s real sweat. Ah this is Gladiator Boot camp. I started yesterday and my buttock are killing me.
[Vashti Whitfield]
It was literally on the cusp of Spartacus, nailing and getting Spartacus. And I remember that day, I put a little note up, facing out onto the ocean saying: “Andy is Spartacus.” And there were notes everywhere. “Andy is Spartacus.”, before he even got it. We made it happen. And that’s how we rode. Even if it takes years, we are capable of making extraordinary things happen.

I mean I was exhausted by the end of the first season but I’m pretty sure anyone would of been. It’s one of the most extreme things I’ve ever gone through. And it was a lot of pain at the end of that. And I wasn’t sure what it was and it wasn’t going away. And I ended up being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma,
Andy’s doctors tell him that he has 3 to 6 months to live if he doesn’t not have treatment.
[Vashti Whitfield]
We just found out the lymphoma’s come back. And I’ve heard all sort of fucking scary information about what that means.
[Andy Whitfield]
I think I’m just so numb from too much information. That I just don’t know how I feel right now. When I asked the oncologist what causes the disease I have he said: “I have no idea.” I mean, how do you fix something if you don’t know the cause, you could – you can patch it up but does it take away the conditions that created it and maintain it in the first place and so I’ve just become fascinated with that question right now and and I think there’s a whole world out there to – to look at, to try to answer that question.
[Andy Whitfield In Thailand]
I just feel settled. It will be interesting to see how I go when I get back in the mentalness of the West.
