Precious viewers, today’s A Journey through Aesthetic Realms introduces you to Ram Bahadur Bomjan in a two-part series. He is also known in the media as the “Buddha Boy”, by his official Buddhist name Palden Dorje, and Tapasvi Bomjan.
Tapasvi is a Sanskrit word meaning spiritual practitioner. Since May 16, 2005, almost 4 years ago, Tapasvi Bomjan has been meditating without food and water in the Bara District of Nepal. We will share with you accounts from his family members and others whose lives have been touched by this special soul.
Historically located between the Tibetan plateau and the plains of the subcontinent India and China, Nepal was known as the birth place of Shakyamuni Buddha and the land of Mount Everest.
And now a young holy man, Ram Bahadur Bomjan from Nepal has given a new introduction to this place. Ram Bahadur Bomjan was born on April 9. 1990 at Bungjor, Bara district of Nepal. The village of Ratanpuri is 9 kilometers west from Nijgadh, the nearest town. Ratanpuri is of Tamang community, of which the majority are Buddhists.
Ram Bahadur Bomjan was born in a ordinary Tamang family of this rural village. According to his parents and neighbors, his boyhood was quite different from that of other boys.
He had a different kind of sentiment and a very different attitude right from his childhood. Normally a baby cries only after he comes out of the mother’s womb. But amazingly, what happened was, during that moment when only the baby’s head was just out of the womb, he let out a cry that echoed in our village. But after the baby cameout to the ground, he stopped crying.
According to his elder brother Ganga Jeet Bomjan, Tapasvi Bomjan used to constantly observe other people during worshipping activities.
During that stage when he used to remain silent, in his hometown he would talk only with the elders in the village whose ideas match with his and he would go easily with them. He kept statues of Buddha. He used to go under the holy fig tree and worshipped them.
Tapasvi Bomjan’s family recounts his quiet and peaceful nature.
He never used to go to crowded places, or sites of interest, or to places where musical instruments were being played. He did not roam in wedding ceremonies. He never got involved in arguments or fights.
Tapasvi Bomjan’s education began at the local Shree Nepal Rashtriya Primary School in Bungjor. He was granted initiation of Panchasheel by Som Bahadur Lama of Sudha, Chhatiwan. Panchasheel means “the Five Vows” in Sanskrit and includes adherence to non-harming, non-stealing, non-lying, avoiding the use of intoxicants, and staying faithful in martial relations.
He went with a teacher who lived nearby and received the teachings from him and then suddenly went into retreat. This act called Gufa or retreat means to observe silence. He went into retreat for almost 3 months.
What was his age during this period?
He was almost 11 years old.
The he went to for a 10-day program. From there he went directly to Makawanpur. He went to a teacher called Som Bahadur Lama. After staying there for a month and a half retreat he went to Lumbini, instead of returning home, he went to Deheradun alone. The place where he had visited first was called Shakya Kegu Monastery. The second one was Shakya Center. And after staying there for a year and a half, he returned home. During that period he looked very quiet.
His speech was very soft and polite, and so was his spiritual practice. He loved sentient beings from the very beginning. If he saw that some animals were being hurt, or being killed, he protected them.
When we return, we’ll learn more of Tapasvi Bomjan’s peaceful message. Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television.
Welcome back to A journey through Aesthetic Realms. On May 16, 2005, Tapasvi Bomjan called upon all the members of his family and said, “Don’t kill animals. Don’t take intoxicating drinks. If you do that it will be harmful to you.” Later that evening, he left his home for a greater cause.
Almost five months had passed like this after his return from Deheradun in India. Suddenly after this 5-month period, he left at around midnight. When someone goes missing in a family it is natural that we get worried, Then I started searching for him. I went to the nearest town Nijgadh, nearby villages, everywhere that came into our minds. Suddenly at that time, a sister from nearby, a Newari family, she has a little son. The little kid asked, “Brother, why does my mother say that you are lost?” And Ram said, “Go little brother, go to your house!” The kid returned home and told his mother, “Brother Ram is not lost! He is taking a bath.” And the mother of the Newari kid came and said, “Brother Ram was taking a bath there. “ Our youngest brother Shyam, his cousins Ashok and Bimala, those three people went there and asked him, “Why did you go like this?” And then he smiled, “I have not gone anywhere, I am here. Why did you look for me? There is no need to search for me. I have left behind my home, family, everything from yesterday.”
Maya Tamang, Tapasvi Bomjan’s mother, recalls here emotional reunion with her son after nearly one year.
When your gentle son went into the Charkoshe Jhadi, a jungle full of tigers and bears, meditating all alone, how did you feel about the power of meditation?
Yes, in that time we thought he wasn’t alive, we were worried. Then after 10 months when the people found him, I felt as if the Lord, the God of the world, has been found. After the 10 months I felt that he really was powerful, now nothing can happen to him, and from then I am happy. When the radio gave the news it was 1pm. And we reached there only at 4 or 5 pm, to my son’s place. When we met him, after 3 or 4 days, at that time he said to us, “Do not eat meat and fish. Do not drink alcohol. Stop smoking. It is best for everyone to leave them.”
After Tapasvi Bomjan advised others to adopt ahimsa (non-violence) and avoid animal products as well as intoxicants, he disappeared for about 10 months saying that it was difficult for him to concentrate because of the disturbance created by the visiting crowd. Chairman of Namobuddha Tapovana Conservation Committee Ben Badahur Lama recalls.
He has made it clear to the public and devotees, “For six years, I will meditate.” He hasn’t stated what will happen after that. And recently we got an indication that almost 4 years of his meditation is about to be completed. Some day 50,000, some day 100,000 people were there. He used to sit in this place, very calm and composed. He did not even move, let alone speak. Very serious, he used to sit on the dais from morning to evening very peacefully. We used to guard him from morning till 5 in the evening, then afterward we left him alone. Now he is inside. He meditated peacefully like that of the Buddha and he assumed the same posture.
On August 2, 2007, Tapasvi Bomjan addressed a large crowd in Halkhoriya jungle in the Bara district of southern Nepal. The Namobuddha Tapovana Conservation Committee, which is devoted to looking after him, assembled the meeting. Announcements about his first-ever preaching were broadcast by a local FM radio station and the committee also invited people by telephone. Around 3,000 people gathered to listen to his address.
A message of peace to our world today. Murder, violence, greed, anger and temptation have made the human world a desperate place. A terrible storm has descended upon the human world. And this is carrying the world towards destruction. The only one way to save the world is through the path of dharma. When one doesn’t walk the righteous path of spiritual practice, this desperate world will surely be destroyed.
[Ram Bahadur Bomjan] Source: LYBIO.net
Therefore, follow the path of spirituality and spread this message to you fellows. Never put obstacles, anger and disbelief in the way of my meditation’s mission. I am only showing you the way; you must seek it on your own. What I will be, what I will do, the coming days will reveal. Human salvation, the salvation of all living beings, and peace in the world are my goals and my path. Namo Buddha Sangaya, Namo Buddha Sangaya, Namo Sangaya. I am contemplating on the release of this chaotic world from the ocean of emotions, on our detachment from anger and temptation, without straying from the path for even a moment, I am renouncing my own attachment to my life and my home forever. I am working to save all living beings.
But for this ephemeral world, my life’s practice has been a mere entertainment. The practice and devotion of many Buddhas are directed at the world’s betterment and happiness. It is essential but every difficult to understand that practice and devotion. Although it is easy to understand this simple knowledge, human beings don’t understand it. But one day, we must leave this uncertain world to go with the Lord of Death. We must leave behind our long-time friends and family members to dissolve into nothingness.
We have to leave behind the wealth and property we have accumulated. What’s the use of my happiness, when those who have loved me from the beginning, my mother, father, brothers, relatives are all unhappy. Therefore, to rescue all sentient beings, I have to be Buddha-mind and emerge from my underground cave to meditate deeply and follow the path of God, to realize the right path and the knowledge. So please do not disturb my practice.
[Ram Bahadur Bomjan] Source: LYBIO.net
My practice detaches me from my body, my soul and this existence. In this situation there will be 72 goddess Kalis. Different gods will be present. There will be the sounds of thunder and many other sounds. At this time the celestial gods and goddesses will be doing divine worship. So until I have sent a message, do not come here. And please explain this to others. Spread spiritual knowledge and spiritual messages throughout the world. Spread the message of world peace to all. Seek the righteous path, and wisdom will be yours.

RAM BAHADUR BOMJAN
The Meditating “Buddha Boy” from Nepal – Part 2/2
Welcome, wise viewers, to part two of our program on Ram Bahadur Bomjan, a young man from Nepal, and his extraordinary meditative endeavors to help bring peace to our planet.
Ram Bahadur Bomjan is also known as Tapasvi Bomjan.
Tapasvi is a Sanskrit word meaning spiritual practitioner. In September 2007, Tapasvi Bomjan delivered another of his spiritual messages to a large crowd in the Holkhoria jungle in Nepal.
The following is an excerpt of his message that was addressed to a large audience.
Prayers of Kunchu Suma message of peace for all living creatures and for the spiritual prosperity of humankind. Salutations to all religious seekers, saints, religions and all organizations.
After I was commanded by the trinity God to save and uplift humankind and the creatures of the world, I have abided by the promise to save the ephemeral world from the ocean of emotions, and to free the world from the worldly sins; I have been contemplating single-mindedly to free humankind and all living creatures.
All sentient begins want to get freed from worldly sorrows and pains. But by birth, they are not equipped as humankind to seek after spirituality and get freed. They are also praying to God.
They are happy to be in this world. Humankind are creating traditions that will destroy the entire humanity and living creatures. In the name of religion, killings, violence, anger, jealousy and divisions are being promoted. There is only one God; God has one form; the souls of all humans are the same, only tradition and customs are different. Always embrace the path of mercy, compassion, non-violence, peace; this is the message I want to convey to our society and to all the citizens of the world.
A true religion, the true human religion, will always search for the truth. The search for truth is the only beneficial way of humans. Despite the existence of thousands of paths, chaos, greed, attachment, anger, and jealousy have imprisoned our society and humankind.
In this way the world is heading towards destruction. So, it is high time that the citizens of the world must think about it. Humans should never forget their ultimate religious duty and their society. Refrain from killings, violence, greed, jealousy, attachments and evil character. Shed the tears of mercy and compassion; show to the world the way of salvation.
[Ram Bahadur Bomjan] Source: LYBIO.net
After we die it is extremely difficult to get back a human life. Everyone thinks that we don’t reincarnate after death.
No, we receive a human life due to our virtuous work. We earn the fruits due to the merits of our work. Now the world is governed by three forms. The first form is greed; second form is anger; third form is attachment and jealousy that are ruling this world. May all the religious traditions change. All the religious people need to first find the Truth, and by cultivating mercy, compassion, non-violence, and peace in their hearts, they need to beautify the world with the way of salvation.
I will continue to contemplate and meditate for the salvation of living beings by being focused in my path of wisdom until I find the ultimate form of enlightenment, the Samyak Sambodhi. Salute to the ultimate form of enlightenment and may peace be with everyone.
In accordance with Shakyamuni Buddha’s teaching, Tapasvi Bomjan had requested that all people adopt a non-violent lifestyle which includes a vegetarian diet. Ganga Jeet Bomjan, his elder brother, explains further.
What were his views regarding the vegetarian diet and refraining from non-vegetarian items?
He had already mentioned it on several occasions: “To kill any animal is violence. It is a very cruel act to kill sentient beings. When you kill something you don’t realize that you feel the same pain when you yourself are cut! You shouldn’t kill them. The thing that you eat by killing sentient beings, that is an act of greed. Humans become violent because of the taste they find in it.”
He used to explain to us the meaning of “what we eat, we indulge in its taste and we become greedy.” These were his words. In this way he advised us why we shouldn’t eat it.
Inspired by the young sage, family and followers have adopted a vegetarian diet, receiving the benefits that a plant-based diet has to offer.
In fact, our family became vegetarian ever since he started his meditation. It is almost four years now; only two more years left of his meditation period. During this period, after we have become vegetarian, we have felt so good and we have not caught any illness which we used to have before.
So, you are also a vegetarian?
Yes, all of our family members are vegetarian. We will follow what he instructs us in the future after his meditation.
Everyone should be vegetarian. If possible then by being a vegetarian, we will be more enlightened; things will become more facilitated. The country will also become better. Unnecessarily taking of fish, meat, and alcohol is causing trouble to all. Everyone is having troubles due to these habits.
Please stay tuned to Supreme Master Television as we continue our program on Ram Bahadur Bomjan, who became revered as spiritual practitioner Tapasvi Bomjan, and known popularly as the “Buddha Boy” of Nepal.
A Journey through Aesthetic Realms
RAM BAHADUR BOMJAN
The Meditating “Buddha Boy” from Nepal – Part 2/2
Welcome back to A journey through Aesthetic Realms.
Tapasvi Bomjan’s influence as a spiritual messenger grew quickly. The Chairman of Nepal’s Namobuddha Tapovana Conservation Committee, Bed Badahur Lama, shares that he too has shifted to a vegetarian diet and is grateful for the many physical and spiritual benefits.
Are you a vegetarian?
Yes, from the very beginning,[Tapasvi Bomjan]did not like violence at all, would not tolerate killings. After he brought this path of non-violence we are also vegetarian now, and are feeling very free. The thing we used to eat made our body heavy, incur karmic debts, get infected with disease. Now I have become a vegetarian. My body feels very light.
Tapasvi Bomjan’s message is one of peace and that everyone should seek a path of spiritual practice. This, according to him, is the only way to save the world. He instructs his followers to work for the benefit of humankind practice good conduct, and live in harmony. His elder brother Ganja Jeet shares with us some insights that he has gained through Tapasvi Bomjan’s words.
In whatever way we look at him, his appearance, color, dress-everything looks like ours. But still there is a great misunderstanding among religious institutions and other people regarding “Buddha Boy.” Everyone is doing investigation and research. But according to what we know from his speeches, the human body has got two senses – one is the external sense and the other is internal. Outside it is physical and the inside is spiritual. By contemplating deeply through his meditation, he says that he has the capacity to attract energy from different sources in the atmosphere. He says that the human body is made up of five elements.
The energy that is needed of his body to be sustained, he says that it is fulfilled through his meditation practice, and that everyone has the same capacity to achieve this stage which he has been doing. He has never tried to offend anyone in particular or any religious institution. He has been working this way for the benefit for our world and to save the entire humanity. He has given up is body, his soul, and everything to save the world from a different dimension, not physically but through the spiritual way – he has been meditating. He has promised, “I would not fall into the temptations of anger, greed, lust, or jealousy.” We have to think ourselves, know what our goals are, what our objectives are, what example we need to give to this world, that we need to be, and then our search will gain merit and everyone will follow the guidelines. This is his main message.
Thank you for sharing your words with us for Supreme Master Television.
Thank you very much from my side as well.
His theory is that there should be no discrimination between castes and races. All religions are the same because they differ only in their culture and their name. There is only one God. “Never discriminate between any religion.“ This is what he told us. That’s why we do not discriminate between any castes, we do not look down upon any religion. Whoever comes here and takes refuge saying “ I am seeking after spiritual merits,” our door is always open. Now, we are trying to make public the wisdom that he has obtained. When it comes out, we will inform all the channels because it is not something we should hide. His purpose of staying in such a dense forest is to spread the wisdom he has obtained. These were his words. We, in our committee, do not even know the ABCs of Buddhist language. That’s why, when it comes from him, we will inform all the channels. We will once again call the media and inform what has come so that I saw that an 18, 19-year-old boy, grown up in a big family of parents, four brothers, four sisters, that 18, 19-year-old boy started meditation in this big dense forest. We even tried to send him back home But now the whole world is witnessing this event. We read in the books that Lord Buddha meditated and attained enlightenment. May be that is why he brought this path of spirituality in our world. His theory is “put an end to violence, and killing; peace should prevail in the country. May no one be involved in wrong deeds. I have been meditating not only for this country, but for peace in the world.”
Our gratefulness, Tapasvi Bomjan, for your commitment to spiritual practice, for your dedication to better our world and for inspiring peace and compassion on our planet. May you be graced evermore with blessings from the Providence in you mission. Noble viewers, thank you for your company on today’s program.
