We got a call about a puppy who wouldn’t leave its dead mother on the side of the road.

He was scared for his life and didn’t not trust us. We had to be extremely careful to keep him from going into the highway.

He was very skinny and interested in the food we had, but he would not let us touch him.

We suspect that they had been out there for days. We knew we would never get him out in the open. We found a fenced in structure that happened to be unlocked. We regrouped and made a plan.

He became frantic once he realized he was trapped. When we got close to him, he snapped and growled at us. He found part of the fence that he could get under and almost got out. After an hour, he got tired and found some shade. Katy sat with him for almost thirty minutes. Finally, Katy got two leashes on him and started to pull him out. He went crazy but slowly gave up. This was after he had been fighting the leash for 10 minutes. He was tired. We covered his face with a blanket to keep him from biting us, and we put him in the car. We worried that he was completely feral and would need months of rehabilitation. As we put him in his crate, something amazing happened. We saw a tiny tail wag…
