[Philip DeFranco Youtuber Christina Grimmie Murdered At Meet And Greet]
Guys I have the very horrible news of reporting that YouTube Star and Voice Singer Christina Grimmie was shot and killed after her show last night.
Reportedly after she had performed she was at a fan meet and greet where she was signing autographs for the fans who where there waiting for her.
At which point a man armed with two guns walked in and opened fire on her.
Some witnesses saying they heard between four and six shots, several that where aimed and hit Christina, at which point her brother reportedly jumped and tackled the shooter who then killed himself.
Many people calling her brother a hero because who knows how many people the shooter could have shot at if no one had stopped him.
Christina was taken to the hospital in critical condition but the police later reported she died there. And stories like this hurts so bad and they hurt even more and I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting softer in age or just as a 30 year old person I look and I see this 22 year old that is providing so much good in the world, providing an escape for people, providing music and happiness, and just reprieve from the garbage that, that life provides on a daily basis.
And so much work goes into making a person and then making that person, a good person and giving that person the tools to put more good in the world and it just takes one idiot, one crazy person, one evil person with a stab or a pull of a trigger to wipe that person from this planet.
And as of right now the shooter has not been named, there has been no talk about what the motive was. And since this news broke so much love has been directed to Christina and her family online so much horror that this is actually happened and also concern about future events many YouTubers and personalities expressing concern in public and also behind the scenes about in one and a half weeks we have VidCon an event where some of the biggest personalities online meet their fans, a place where tens of thousands of people go.
How do you keep that safe?
Is it possible to keep that safe and on that note creator of VidCon Hank Green tweeted “my first email was to our security team at…
…VidCon we had already increased security plans from last year but are reviewing… now” and I understand the fear but the thing that people need to understand is that this is always been a possibility, it’s happened before people became famous on the internet once, once you open the door to people, you provide access, it is a possibility.
That’s why even before VidCon offered security to the people that go to the event, I’d always have two off-duty police officers with me. And even then I know I’m not completely safe, but what’s the alternative?
To not do, to not go, to, to, to, to, to cower down in fear? No.
When doers don’t do because what someone else might do, that’s when they win, that’s when bad wins, when we see people like Christina Grimmie get taken away, we cannot cower down in fear we need to remember how amazing she was, how great, what she was trying to provide the world was, and be inspired by that and go out and try and provide good to the world like she would have in our own ways and that’s the closest thing to a positive thought I can have with this story because there’s nothing good about this story, there is no silver lining to this story, there, there’s just pain for those affected, and the only good prospect is that at some point that pain may dull to a point that is less severe than it was today.
And it’s nothing but horrible, but what I want to say is that we do live in a world where there’s so much senseless violence, there is so much pointless death.
So love the ones you have as intensely as you can while you have them because one day you won’t.
Whether it be because someone shoots them or because just life happens and as a note for those who are subscribed the normal video for today and tomorrow will not be here, I’m gonna be going dark on the channel until Monday.
The video that I was going to post tomorrow would have been insensitive to this whole situation and I just, I want to take a moment to just to remind myself that there’s more important things in the world that we need to just take care of each other and spend a moment with my family and that’s where I’m gonna end today’s show, guys I love your faces I hope you have a good weekend, a safe weekend and I’ll see you Monday.
(RIP Christina Grimmie)
