[Orem, Man Of Sorrows. Hard To Hold Tears Back]
This is Orem [Foreign Language].
Yeah, this is Orem. Orem is about 20 years old, and the paper bag seen on his neck is a form of bondage that he wears everyday because the saliva keeps on oozing out of his mouth, and so, it gets there that is saliva. Orem lives in Kitale town. And we are coming to Kitale area from Bungoma because of the massive jigger-infestation in this place and a Good Samaritan, a woman filled with love who helped him because he had some meat that moved from the ears down to the neck and he just – and the other one right on the chin down to the chest. So he was not able to move his head, his neck around without moving the whole body and we had a group that came in from the U.S. called Operation Smile, I think if I’m not very wrong it must have been sponsored by John Crouch of TBN, maybe I’m not so sure about that.
But they helped him and did a surgery on him. So he is now able to move his head he couldn’t do that sometimes back, but now he is able to. But unfortunately, the money and means to do a reconstructive surgery on him really looking at it from an African point of view with the lack of amenities and many things that support such people, I don’t think he can. And children run away when they see him. If you know – the medical scientific advancement in medicine, I’m told there is a possibility that a reconstructive surgery could be done on Orem, to give him lips and to give him some looks, ah… There is a story behind his looks and I have to ask because I’m not so sure but um…

The story is that Orem was doused with hot water by his stepmother, when he was a child.
When he was about 10, he was doused with hot water by his stepmother and she wanted him to die. But he did not die and Good Samaritan’s came and he was taken to hospital and he has had no life really. And when he remained with his brother he had two other brothers and the one who was supportive over him from that time, unfortunately he died and the brother who remained now and who is supposed to be taking care over him has actually forsaken him. And there is a land issue they would rather he passed on, so that they can take over his land because the family has a family land and he is entitled to some piece of land. So they just don’t want him to be alive because then he will have a claim on land and so – there is hatefulness, lot of hate towards him and neglect. And he just walks barefoot bitten by jiggers. I heard his story through this lady who connected him to the Operation Smile. And she also assists orphans and we have spent a better part of the day looking for him and we found him at a marketplace where some people are just making fun of him. And he has to go there and try to look for food. So that Good Samaritans can give him food and as you can see through the video he just can’t eat, the food keeps on falling and because he has no mouth to hold the food and so that is just the pack of saliva that keeps on dripping and dripping and dripping and salvia sticks when we took him into the car, he smelled, he smelled so bad.
And he is the beloved son of the most high God and I believe God has a plan for him and I believe if Jesus Christ walked this way today and met Orem, Christ would stop everything and minister to him. And the Lord is alive today, he is potent and I believe that we have people with an obligation here on earth to help Orem. I don’t know where to begin I feel so ah… indebted to him. Reconstructive surgeries are really expensive here, but that is what he needs, and where there is love, resources abound and nothing is impossible with God.
I believe that we’re going to remove jiggers from him and start helping him, just get back his life, his lost life and so it is really moving and scary it is disturbing and worrysome to the soul. It’s amazing that people have seen him.
Wow, he goes to Free Pentecostal Church and the fellowship with him and they just don’t care, not blaming them just thinking that there would be an opportunity for his day. His day would come and I believe that day is approaching very fast. So he is one of those that the Lord has brought our way and Orem is now in safe hands. We don’t know how to begin, where to begin from, what to expect, but we are going to start it anyway. And one step at a time; Oh! my God he will, he would do good and what a joy that will be to see him without that nylon bag around his neck. And being able to eat and swallow food and to have his tongue inside lips and be able to pronounce things well, he is now 20 and he can’t pronounce because you need lips to talk and to be good to even his eyes, if possible looking no more because they were really burned that he can see, he can actually see, he has no more eyes. And so we thank God for the opportunity that we have to look upon these and witness love.
Outside away from what [people does], people uses these needles to remove the jigger and it’s just not easy to do that this is administration of what normally happens. And you realize that it’s so hard doing that with the needle and that is why people don’t really do it because it would take you forever, if you just remove one jigger. But we thank God for this scalpel and the formula that God gave us to just cut off the jiggers and disinfect very fast and move to another person. And so we will be coming here with a team of (inaudible) (15:43) soon and we will be carrying everything that is needed to at least do our part as we expect and pray that God will bring in somebody and I know someone is outside there, to do a reconstructive surgery on him.
So it is a blessing meeting him. My heart goes out to him, the neglect he has had and the abandonment and rejection it is going to come to an end and God will be glorified in this because he will be well and people will see that and they will hear that and they will witness that and the story will go out that love is still alive in us. That there is some love, that his tear has been dried, he has been remember by somebody and it will be glorious, it will be fulfilling; that’s the day, I want to live to see, that is the day I want to live to see, that is the day I want to live to see. So, the [walk /work] is soon going to start and I need to say thank you God for this chance.
