Last Week Of Training.
Ultima semana de treinamento.
[José Aldo da Silva Oliveira Júnior (born September 9, 1986)]
We are now on our last week of training. We’ve trained everything we needed to train. Now, we’ll keep training, just not as hard. On the last week, we are really careful of injuries. The diet only starts next week. During the week of the fight, is when we start the diet. Especially me, who enjoys training while feeding myself well. And sleeping well. I appreciate those things. The last week of training we work on dropping weight. I always look back on my life as if it was a film. In the beginning, there were a lot of things to overcome. In Manaus, Brazil, that was the thing, we came from poor origins. My mom was an assistant and my dad was a construction worker. While raising me and my 2 sisters. We didn’t have much. But we had love. And that was what mattered. I’m cool about it, I think everyone goes through difficulties, both the poor the rich. I think it’s up to each person’s mind. I think about my first fight; when everyone comes up to talk to you. It’s good for your self-esteem. So. I felt so good. And I decided this is what I wanted to do. I will give my best and train hard to get to the top of it. Since the first time, to see everyone cheering and to feel their affection. It was very important.

I thought it was a funny question. And I thought it was about me. He asked: “who do you think is the best P4P fighter in the world”? I said: “Me”. If I don’t think it’s me, who will think it. The guy asked; so I said it’s me. I sold myself. I came up and said, “I think I am the best fighter.” In that moment I had reached the beginning. I accept everyone’s criticism. I wasn’t being arrogant. But it’s okay. I had something in my mind, and I believed in it. I knew I could make it. Always believing in it. And always running after it. And now, last year I was voted the best pound for pound fighter. I am a Pedro Rizzo fan. When I started to fight I based my game on his style. I saw him train, and he was knocking everybody out in the UFC. Also Chuck Liddell, who at the time was unbeatable. Such hard hands. Looking up to those guys, I started fighting standing up. In the beginning I realized, I don’t’ want to only put the fight down to the ground, I think it’s easier to get to the top by knocking people out. I think, that way the media come for you more! That was the plan I traced since I started. I think every day you learn something new. I think I have some knowledge of the stand up game. But still I have a lot to improve. We have to always search for improvement. So thank God, now I had the opportunity to go to Holland. I went there to train with Andy Souwer. He was very welcoming. And I learned a lot from him. But there was not enough time. So for sure, after this fight I’m going back there for a longer time to learn. A fighter must always be evolving. Just like the world keeps evolving, the same thing is with the fighters. you can’t stop; you have to always look to improve. Always, each time more and more. You must never think:: “It’s enough. I’m the best, so it’s all good.” No. You always have something to improve. Ground game, stand up, wrestling. That’s the way the sport grows and we must follow the growth of the sport. To everyone who watches and cheers for me, believe that it’s really me on my Twitter. Cheer for me, knowing, I will give my best. My best always for you. Thanks.
