It’s not easy to come in and out of Gaza. And sometimes you are rejected for no reason. Young people are struggling to leave to study and a lot of patients are struggling to get an Israeli permit to get proper treatment.
More than 70 percent of people in Gaza rely on humanitarian aid.
Electricity is only available four to six hours a day.
First day I traveled, I woke up in the middle of the night because I remembered that maybe I have electricity and I want to charge my phone before it cuts off. Suddenly I realized that I’m not in Gaza.
Especially during the first days I had a different feeling that I can’t describe in words. So I decided to film myself so I can take these videos with me when I come back to Gaza.
It’s difficult to describe the feeling of freedom. I’m so happy that I want to hug everyone in the street and tell them, I’m happy, I’m free, I finally left Gaza. I know many people [in Gaza] are dreaming about this moment. I consider myself lucky for being able to leave, see people and see the world outside. And for them to see me.
Israel’s sweeping restrictions on the freedom of movement for Palestinians in Gaza go far beyond what international law permits.
The closure affects almost every aspect of the lives of the nearly 2 million people living in the 11-by-40 kilometer Gaza Strip.
