BRIAN WILLIAMS THE PRESS AND YOU
Reporting the news comes with a big responsibility.
Talking Points Commentary
Reporting comes with a big responsibility. Founding fathers made that point very clearly. They said to us, “We’ll give you freedom. We’ll protect you from government intrusion. But, in return, you, the press, must be honest.”
But O’Reilly has not always accurately described his own experience as a war correspondent.
Because I was in a situation one time, in a war zone in Argentina, in the Falklands, where my photographer got run down and then hit his head and was bleeding from the ear on the concrete. And the army was chasing us. I had to make a decision. And I dragged him off, you know, but at the same time, I’m looking around and trying to do my job, but I figure I had to get this guy out of there because that was more important.
So was he in the war zone during the 1982 Falklands War between the UK and Argentina?
According to former CBS News colleagues of O’Reilly, no American correspondents ever reached the war zone.
In fact, O’Reilly and the American press corps were here 1,200 miles away:
“You were a thousand miles from where the fighting was. So we had some great meals.”

INTERVIEW WITH MOTHER JONES
Yet O’Reilly has more than once referred to being in the “war zone” during the Falklands conflict.
Bill feels about Journalism the way Bush does about war. And he sends other people to fight it for him.
By the way, I missed Morris in the El Salvador, the Falkland conflict in Argentina, and the Middleast and Northern Island I look for Bill, but I didn’t see him.
Fox News and Bill O’Reilly did not respond to multiple requests for comment.
“I am honeymooning right now in Argentina and my hotel keeper directed me to ‘Bill O’Reilly and Fox News.’ You have a big fan base here, Bill, although they use subtitles.” Hard enough to understand me in English, you can imagine with those subtitles are. No problem with that Dave, tell everybody down there I cover the Falklands war they will remember.
