David Plouffe: Hey, everyone. I am David Plouffe, one of President Obama’s Senior Advisers. On Thursday night at 7P.M. President Obama will be addressing the country. He will be speaking to Congress and all of the American people about his plan to create American jobs right now. All of the major television networks and cable stations will be covering it live. You can also watch this speech on WhiteHouse.gov. As someone who has been in the room with the President as the plan was developed, I thought it might be helpful to share with you before the speech some of the ideas and approaches the President has taken. The President’s plan is going to have a specific proposal to help small businesses hire, and grow, and invest. Source: LYBIO.net Help workers. You know, make sure they keep more of their hard earned money. Going to have ideas to help rebuild America, our roads and our bridges, and modernizing our schools, keep teachers on the job. And make sure more products all around the world are stamped with the words “Made in the USA.” And this is part of the President’s long-term economic strategy. Yes, we have to reduce our deficit in the long-term. That is going to be important to our competitiveness. We have to focus on things like education and innovation and infrastructure and research and development, the things we know are going to make us strong in this century.

The President’s plan is built on a belief that we need to rebuild our economy the American way. Rewarding fairness, making sure that those who work hard and play by the rules are not left behind. That as everyone out in America is meeting their responsibilities, a challenge to congress to meet theirs.
During the debate we had over the debt ceiling and deficit a couple of months ago, switch boards were flooded here in Washington. Emails were shutting down computer systems as the American people reached out to their elected leaders and said compromise, put the country before a party. This plan contains a lot of terrific ideas that have enjoyed bipartisan support in the past. They need to again. It is a plan that is fully paid for. And it is a plan that is going to put a lot of people in America back to work. It is going to help businesses start, grow, and expand, and it is going to help us rebuild America.
