What is the most thrilling thing you have ever done?

Alison Parker

[Alison Parker:] Source:
The most thrilling thing I’ve ever done, I took a trip to the Grand Canyon with my family and we went horseback riding down the Grand Canyon and it was supposed to be a guided tour and our tour guide said, oh, I’ll catch up with you and he never did. And once we got to the bottom, the horses just took off because they had done that run so many times they knew exactly where they were going. But it was a very bumpy ride, very scary and my parents were praying that I was holding on, it was okay. But we made it and it was really fun and I’ll always remember it.

What is you hobby?

[Alison Parker:]
My hobby is whitewater kayaking. It’s something that my family does all the time, especially when it gets warmer, but we’ve done it when it’s cold outside too. But there are plenty of really awesome places to go, the Smith River, Dan River, a lot of places in the Martinsville Henry County area that my family likes to go on. So it’s really thrilling really exciting and can’t wait to do it this summer.

What is one thing about you viewers may not know?

[Alison Parker:]
Something viewers might not know about me is that I come from a family that absolutely loves the arts. My mom works for Piedmont Arts in Martinsville. My dad was on Broadway back in the day, and I played trumpet and French horn in high school and continue to go and support community theater events throughout our region, I think it’s something that’s very, very important, and I will always support it.

What is your favorite food?

[Alison Parker:]
I absolutely love Mexican food. Very, very spicy food. Enchiladas, tacos, you name it, I will eat it and the spicier the better.

Who is your favorite television character?

[Alison Parker:] Source:
My favorite television characters, I like the really deep darker shows, Walter White on “Breaking Bad” amazing. Don Draper in “Mad Men” is also wonderful. And I’m really excited for the next season of “House of Cards” because Frank Underwood is just such an interesting character to follow throughout that show.

What is the best vacation you’ve ever had?

[Alison Parker:]
The best vacation I ever had, my family and I went to Mexico about a year ago and we stayed in Playa del Carmen. It was so neat going to see all of the ruins and spending some time near the beach. And it was just really fun meeting the people and of course eating that delicious food.

When you were young, what did you want to be when you grew up?

[Alison Parker:] Source: L Y B I O . N E T
When I was younger, I was really interested in the math and science fields. Those were always my bust subjects in school, but I went the journalism route, which is okay, but when I was younger, I wanted to either become a doctor or become a pharmacist. But as a journalist, I get to cover those types of fields, so it’s close enough.
